Michael E. Lonich
Michael E. Lonich, managing partner of Lonich and Patton, has nearly thirty years of experience as a litigator, beginning his career representing a wide range of businesses and individuals in civil and probate matters, including probate and trust administration. His practice also focuses on family law mediation and estate planning. Today, with the firm’s growing family law practice, including two certified specialists, Mike draws upon the firm’s expertise and his own experience to partner with families to develop comprehensive estate plans and represent clients in probate litigation and trust administration. From the simplest will to more complex trusts, maximizing financial benefits as well as ensuring the peace of mind that an estate plan brings to an individual or family is always our goal. Whether a client needs revisions to current documents (will, trust, power of attorney, health care directive, TOD accounts, etc.) or has no plan in place, Mike is prepared to help clients tailor a comprehensive plan that suits their needs and concerns.
Mike started his probate practice in 1988 when he represented a family facing the loss of a valuable asset in their estate to an oil company giant and the church. Mike was able to successfully secure the asset for the family of the deceased in probate court. Since then, Mike has helped many clients protect their families’ estates in probate proceedings.
Born in San Rafael, California in 1954, Mike grew up in the Santa Clara Valley having moved here with his family in the early sixties. After leaving the Valley for college and law school, Mike returned home to marry and raise a family. Along with his wife, Lisa, Mike is raising his three boys, Andrew, Ryan and Michael. Together with the family hound, Crusader, they live in Saratoga where they are active in the community and their parish at Sacred Heart. Mike graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1981.
Mike is a member of the State Bar of California, the Association of Defense Counsel and Santa Clara Bar Association, serving on the temporary judge and arbitrator panels of the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Mr. Lonich is admitted to practice before all California courts, including the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the Federal District Court for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California.
